I love this moment for his character.

I love how he reaches backwards to put his arms around them.

this is why i always trusted him (in the films anyway) because he could have let the werewolf take them, and he would have been rid of the boy who lived, who got lily killed, forever and it would seem like an accident, but his natural instinct was to protect them, which shows that naturally he is a good guy

This was the moment that concreted my unconditional love for Snape. I loved him from the the moment it was proven that he was the one who was doing a counter-charm against Quirrell’s curse, during the Quiddich match, but this moment -2 films & books later- concreted it.

He’s protective of them, even if he hates them and Alan Rickman’s amazing acting portrays this extremely well.
